A Hip Hop Scientist – This one for the kids

An instructor at a college in North Carolina has created a website with the goal of making science “cool” for kids. Take a look and encourage kids to check out Mop Top the hip hop scientist.

Click THIS link to enter the site. I’ve also placed a link to the right in our Blogroll, so that when this post gets replaced, the link will be readily available. Thanks to Ms. Jackie Johnson for this idea. Ms. Johnson hopes that teachers and parents will use the site to point kids – especially African-American kids – but really all kids, to a resource which may along with S.T.E.P., encourage them to become scientists.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback regarding “Mop Top” the “Hip Hop” Scientist Celebrates African-Americans in the Sciences. I am the creator, designer, and illustrator of both “Mop Top” and “Lollipop.” I wanted to create a character that looked and/or was somewhat representative of them. I hope the characters and the information will encourage, inspire, stimulate and motivate African-American children as well as all children to enjoy learning. We continue to visit the site as it will be updated monthly (new scientists, activities, games, etc.). I encourage all parents, teachers, educators, and children to visit the site to learn more about our contributions to all of society and the world.

    Thank you again.
