The year 2006-2007 is a special one in the history of New York State science education-especially in light of the current deficit of science and engineering professionals in the state and in the nation. We are celebrating 20 years of preparing students of New York for rigorous majors in undergraduate schools, and for nurturing their desire to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) professions.

Events are being planned throughout the state, including but not limited to information presentations on STEM careers and their academic requirements- to middle and high school classes by STEP and CSTEP professionals and program volunteers. Program personnel will be in schools for these special presentations during the period March 19 through April 6. Materials providing information on specific careers licensed by the state, and prepared by the State Education Department will be available to students, teachers, and school library personnel at these presentations. Information on STEM professions and NYS licensing requirements can be accessed on this blog’s wiki by clicking here.
